Using RealTime
RealTime provides fully configurable, graphical views across the entire hospital or healthcare establishment with drill down into ward/department based views. Fully web-based, interaction with the system is designed to be timesaving and convenient, combining mouse with touch screen capability for viewing and updating information.
Assign beds to patients
RealTime is intended to operate alongside standard bed management tools, adding value to existing systems. It can detect bed assignment from an existing patient management system using standard messaging, or alternatively patients can be assigned directly into RealTime using mouse selection, patient bar code or RFID label reading.
In addition to fixed bed locations, patients may be assigned to temporary beds. When patients need to move within the same ward/department they may be re-assigned to alternative beds. RealTime can be configured to send standard HL7 v2 ADT messages to patient management systems when used directly for bed assignment.
Monitor Bed State
Bed state visualization uses discharge process-oriented colour-coding to help key nursing and clinical staff focus activities for discharge planning at an early stage in the patient visit. The following bed states are identifiable:
All colours are configurable on a site-by-site basis and are supported by configurable visual icons to assist use by the visually impaired.
RealTime can look forward in time to show the user a predicted bed state a chosen time in the future. For example, the bed state in the department seven days from now. This helps those planning admissions to make the most effective use of the anticipated bed space.
Planning for Discharge
RealTime can detect the expected discharge date from an existing patient management system using standard messaging, or alternatively patients can be assigned a reason for admission and have the system associate a target LOS directly within RealTime. The reason for admission list is drawn from an analysis of each client and is clinically coded within RealTime.
Monitor Length of Stay
The LOS graphical monitors show variance over time at ward/department level or across the entire organisation.View Patient Details
By selecting a bed location wthin RealTime, an authorised user can view further details held about the patient. The patient information is drawn both from information recorded directly in RealTime and from existing patient management systems.
